Update (2024-12-26): So much for the Baader–Meinhof phenomenon, as it took me almost 7 months to re-encounter the phrase I was looking for: Gell-Mann Amnesia. In an era with practically infinite content, especially if it comes to be even more saturated by schlock and nonsense hallucinated by AI, reputation and track record will become even more valuable.
You know that phenomenon when you read about your industry—or some topic on which you’re otherwise already well informed—but get hung up on errors, over-simplifications, or bad analysis? It quickly betrays the author is out of their depth, but more insidiously it suggests that you only detect what you know how to detect and so are blithely swimming in a sea of nonsense.
Well I’m a completionist reader of Stratechery and Casey’s blog1 because I don’t get hung up reading their work, which earned my trust. Unsurprisingly then, An Interview with Terraform Industries CEO Casey Handmer About the Solar Energy Revolution (paywall) was fantastic.

Okay, I only skimmed the Mars Trilogy pieces and the details on the scroll project. ↩
